Dental Implants
Dental implants are the sturdiest, most modern solution available to replace missing teeth. Dental implants have the additional benefit of precluding the need for bridges or appliances. Your Idaho Falls dentists, Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Drake, are both highly skilled and experienced with the procedure, which insures that under their care, your restorations will last through a lifetime of use. Surgical-grade titanium now allows for a permanent implant to be anchored directly into the jawbone, in the gap created by the missing tooth. As the implant heals, the new bone growth grafts to the implant, giving it its strength. Once this stage is completed, a porcelain dental crown will be slipped over the tip of the implant and bonded securely in place. The result is a tooth that is colored to match your surrounding teeth and that is strong enough to handle rigorous chewing and biting. Don't live with gaps that impede the normal function of your teeth; for excellent dental implants in Idaho Falls, come to Park West Dental Care.

Full or Partial Dentures
Dentures are the best option for patients who have lost all or a significant number of their natural teeth. Partial dentures are structured much like an orthodontic retainer, using wires with a molded plastic base that secures replacement teeth between the remaining natural ones. Drs. Jacobson and Drake will match the replacement denture to your natural tooth color, making your partial dentures indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

For the full dentures provided by Park West Dental Care, in Idaho Falls, it is crucial that the fit be as tight and stable as possible, since there are no other teeth to work off of for support. Our dentures in Idaho Falls are some of the best, because our dentists take the time to give each patient a customized fitting by taking molds to account for every bump and divot. This prevents unwanted movement and also helps to secure the denture in the best position within the mouth. We can also refit old, slipping dentures. So if you live or work in the Idaho Falls area, contact our office for your denture needs.

Implant Dentures
Dentures are meant to be replacements for natural teeth, but often patients have trouble keeping them in place. Messy bonding gels or irritating bonding strips are supposed to accomplish this, but too often dentures slip anyway during chewing or talking. If this sounds like your predicament, you may be a candidate for implant dentures in Idaho Falls, offered to our patients here at Park West Dental Care. Implants dentures are by far the most reliable system for holding dentures in place.

The first step is the anchoring of the implants. While the patient is sedated, two medical-grade titanium implants are screwed into the upper jaw, and two more are put into the lower jaw. As the bone heals around the implants the new growth grafts into the threads (a process called Osseointegration). Osseointegration creates an extremely strong hold on each implant. The exposed parts of the implants are then connected with a small bar that hooks with matching pieces onto the dentures. This is the best method for holding dentures in place, so if you are searching for implant dentures in Idaho Falls, consider Dr. Jacobson, Dr. Drake and their dedicated staff at Park West Dental Care.

Dental Crowns
At Park West Dental Care, the options for returning your teeth to their full form and function are nearly endless, and one of the most time-tested, reliable procedures used by your Idaho Falls dentists is the dental crown. A crown is essentially a cover that slips over your natural tooth to give it strength. As well as being used for other procedures such as bridges and root canals, crowns are used on teeth that are cracked, severely chipped, or that are overly sensitive to temperature. They can even be used to reshape a tooth to close a gap. Our dental crowns in Idaho Falls are made to your preference, usually with either gold or porcelain.

To perform the procedure, Drs. Jacobson and Drake begin by removing any damaged material and reshaping the tooth to fit inside the crown. Then molds are taken and sent to our dental laboratory for fabrication. At the following appointment the crown is bonded into place, creating a very strong and aesthetically pleasing restoration. If you are searching for dental crowns in Idaho Falls, consider Park West Dental Care and our leading Idaho Falls restorative dentists.

Root Canals (Endodontic Therapy)
Among patients, root canals are one of the most widely known restorative procedures, and not usually for positive reasons. The root canal procedure has a reputation for being a painful and altogether unpleasant experience. At Park West Dental Care, however, your experience with Drs. Jacobson and Drake will change this perception. They take great care to provide pain-free dentistry. In fact they have gained excellent reputations for this with their patients in Idaho Falls.

When a tooth is badly infected the root can die, causing it and the surrounding pulp to rot within the tooth and producing a severe toothache for the patient. Left untreated, this will lead to the breakdown of the tooth enamel and will eventually require tooth extraction. Drs. Jacobson and Drake will stop this from occurring by drilling down through the crown of the tooth to gain access to the infected root and removing the infected tissue. The emptied chamber is filled with a biocompatible material and is then capped with a porcelain dental crown colored to match the surrounding teeth. The finished restoration should be pain free and can be used to bite and chew normally. If you are currently experiencing pain, and think you may need a root canal in Idaho Falls, then contact our office immediately and we will fit you into our schedule for an examination and treatment right away.

Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a restoration that is designed to replace a missing tooth in order to give the wearer the stability and confidence to chew normally. This procedure does not require sedation or surgery. The replacement teeth used at Park West Dental Care are carved from solid blocks of high-quality porcelain ceramic. Drs. Jacobson and Drake will take measurements of the gap to get the exact dimensions to ensure a snug fit. Then after the tooth is created, it is bonded between two porcelain dental crowns. These crowns slip conveniently over the two teeth adjacent to fill the gap, and once bonded, will hold the replacement tooth firmly in place. For precision dental bridges in Idaho Falls, contact Park West Dental Care.

TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder)
Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) is a condition describing the pain experienced in the jaw or in the form of headaches, caused by improper alignment between the jaw, connecting muscles and skull. Pain and swelling in the jaw joint is the most common symptom, but sometimes the muscles’ uneven pull on the skull can cause headaches.  Drs. Jacobson and Drake have both undergone special training to prepare them for treating patients with TMJD pain.  At Park West Dental Care, we offer a variety of therapies to correct alignment problems. A special mouthpiece or retainer may be recommended to gradually correct the way the jaw aligns, or in more extreme cases, types of orthodontic headgear will be used to achieve healing.  Drs. Jacobson and Drake are two of only a few dentists who are equipped to properly treat TMJD in Idaho Falls, so contact our office if you are experiencing swelling of the jaw and/or persistent headaches.

Tooth Extractions
A dental extraction is the complete removal of a tooth. Since the aim of every dentist is to preserve and maintain the oral health of each patient, you might think that extraction is counterintuitive. Although it is true that we perform extractions as seldom as possible at Park West Dental Care, there are some instances when it is in the best interest of the patient to remove the tooth. This can happen when infections have progressed too far, when teeth are overcrowded, or when we prepare a patient for dental implants or implant dentures. Drs. Jacobson and Drake are experts at doing this as painlessly as possible. In fact their patients say that as concerns their dentists, the expression “like pulling teeth” means quick and easy. If you think you may require a dental extraction, choose Park West Dental Care for the best dental care in Idaho Falls.
